I would categorize Your Lie In April as a sweet and tender story, but at the same time, bitter and sad. The images throughout the series try to express it, with very vivid and warm colors that become duller as the series progresses.

It may also be a good anime for those looking to get into the world of anime, as it can set a decent bar for them to judge from. But for veteran watchers, perhaps it's better to watch it at 1.5x speed if for nothing else but to save some time.

The huge lie was that Kaori loved Kousei, when she was acting like she loved Watari the whole time. In the very end Kousei found out that she loved him. Another smaller lie is that she was terminally ill and was going to die but didn't act like it at all the entire series.

Kousei is not just that basem*nt dwelling guy who just needed a manic pixie dreamgirl in order to stop feeling depressed. In fact, he has legitimate depression and PTSD that plays an active role in the story and CANNOT just be solved by Kaori.

In the opening, a very brief scene reveals a girl and a boy circling across the screen naked. Not detailed nor implying anything sexual at all. A girl is seen putting on a shirt in one episode.

It brings unexpected emotion and feelings into Classical Music and teaches its audience the beauty of it. Moreover, the plot was very well written. It is true that the anime focus a lot on the quote 'Music speaks louder than words' telling its audience that certain things simply cannot be expressed with simple words.

It has been a couple of months since the death of Kaori Miyazono. Kousei Arima has been accepted in an overseas academy, forcing him to leave those close to him. On his new musical adventure, he encounters a joyful girl, who reminds him of Kaori; bringing back painful yet enjoyable memories.
