Given this is Gunn's film don't be surprised if Clark and Jimmy have a bromance going.

I wonder if they'll just write her more dangerous like Supergirl or more like Mercy or make her comedy relief.

Hopefully this will be the end on a long line of live action misfires for Jimmy (since Smallville imo.) A lot of great casting choices but seems like there are going to be a big cast. I hope Gunn does a good job balancing it all.

He’s going to be great, I’m stoked. Please make him and Clark roommates Gunn, like MAWS and the New 52 did. I loved that concept and want to see it on the big screen. It’s time to emphasize that Jimmy is Clark’s best friend.

Gunn's debunking time!
Welp, I’ll just take that as confirmation Rooker isn’t in consideration for Sam Lane and hope that Sam might still show up. But honestly I’d be ok with saving Sam for the sequel (assuming we get one) where he and Metallo could be used as underlings for President Lex.

As rumored, but still I would rather have had Mercy. Dunno why Gunn would pick Eve over her but whatever I guess. Mercy can still show up if he wants her.
Eve was described as an influencer in the casting call. Unlike Mercy, Eve is a character that Gunn can change in whatever fits his story.

Rooker can still be Pa Kent or Perry White.

Gunn is partly copying S:TM. No other reason to use Eve T. I assume she will be somewhat campy. Not a Mercy whom I wish had been used as Lex's assistant. The best Mercy was Lex's assistant in Lois and Clark. Perfect - though her name not Mercy she was everything you'd want in a Mercy.
A ginger Jimmy. Sort of the first time in live action - Superboy's Andy McCallister (basically Jimmy but WB wouldn't let them use the name) had lots of red highlights. I wish there was time to develop the Jimmy/Clark bromance in SL but with all the other non-Superman characters I doubt the two get much screentime together. Plus, after SL it's likely Jimmy won't be seen much if at all in other DCU films.

So who is going to be the main villain? Or the main physical villain?

Perry is rumored to be played by a black actor, but maybe he’ll be Pa Kent. He could be a great Pa come to think of it, a Pa with some rocker/rebel vibes would be cool.

Well the Authority are clearly going to throw down with Clark at some point. Otherwise the only other rumor is that Brainiac is in this.

Great that they finally got a Jimmy that's red-haired and freckled (well there was Aaron Ashmore), but then he looks to be about the same age as Clark and Lex.
Oh well. I don't take any of this seriously. To me it's all fan fiction, as I have no belief that this movie will ever get made. So they might as well post their dream cast. It costs them nothing.

I'm expecting a lot of this to be trial by media/public perception.
The Authority will be the popular, militaristic (read: MCU) superheroes. They'll be buoyed by the praise of influencer Eve Teschmacher (directed by Lex to discredit who he knows to be the real threat, Superman). They'll throw down with Clark a little, who will take some hits as he tries to talk them down rather than fight.
Then Brainiac or possibly Parasite will show up and mop the floor with the Authority, so Superman has to save the world, in the public eye, showing the world what a real hero is.

Brainiac can carry a movie on his own. He doesn’t need Lex or the Authority to help him. Parasite, Metallo and Bizarro do need Lex to hold their hand though.

"Milteristic government heroes" are going to popular.. instead of a guy doing trying to do the right thing.I don't think so.

I dunno, I think in America especially there's a strong "support our troops/veterans", pro-military culture. Lex having Teschmacher boost the profile of the Authority while painting Superman as a dangerous alien could work. The issue here isn't that the Authority in this scenario would be militaristic and government affiliated while Superman is trying to do the right thing, it's that the public won't see it that way.

Besides being a finalist for the role of Superman in SL Nicholas Hoult was a finalist for the role of Batman in Reeves' film. He's a well-known actor with great talent. Campea is enthusiastic about the casting as are most others. Some think Gunn is eyeing Hoult's Lex Luthor to be one of the overarching villains/key characters of the DCU as opposed to simply a Superman villain. He may pop up in many DCU films and logically should have a significant presence in The Authority. Lex interacting with The Engineer (and others?) in SL sets up the Lex/Authority relationship being expanded upon in the subsequent Authority film.

I don't know about Perry White, but one of the members of the Authority is rumored to be played by a black actor for months now.

When does the strike end? I’m curious on what David has to say.

David was cast before the strike (which is now over) and did not comment directly at that time. An actor friend IIRC commented for him. David is not Henry in that Corenswet is extremely private about his life. No one knows if he has had or has a significant other. When he attends Hollywood events he does so alone. His Instagram posts deal only with career and his love for dogs. Still, unlike Skyler, he didn't post a Superman casting acknowledgement on his Instagram.
Skyler on his casting as Jimmy
Henry Cavill did lots of press leading up to and following MOS. More than mandated by the studio. He loved/loves being in the limelight and there was always chatter about his personal/love life - he went through several girlfriends in a short period of time and shared lots about his workout regimen. David won't do that kind of press IMO and will likely mandate that personal questions are out of bounds. I see Brosnahan doing lots more non-studio-mandated press than David.
David only has 38 Instagram posts, Skyler has about 250 and Rachel almost 500. Skyler and Rachel post pics of friends and family while David does not. That reinforces that he is a private person which is not too common in Hollywood.
